Rookie Michael Carter-Williams dominated the matchup between he and Rose in the backcourt.

This was definitely one to forget… Bulls fans must have shared a collective blank stare during the last half of this contest. Chicago blew a 20 point lead and couldn’t make the plays that they needed to win the game. They got out-hustled to loose balls, they got outscored badly in the 3rd quarter (remember how many games the Bulls lost last season in the 3rd quarter?) 19-33 and couldn’t get the three to fall. Philly shot 11-22 (50%) while the Bulls only managed 3-14 (21.4%).

Game Changer:
After Derrick sunk a three pointer (after nearly a 3 minute scoring drought) with 2:12 left in the game giving the Bulls a 104-102 lead, baskets by both Evan Turner and Spencer Hawes (coupled by consecutive turnovers by Rose) would end up putting the game out of reach for Chicago.

Peak Performer(s):
C. Boozer (CHI) 22 PTS 10 REB 1 ASTS 0 STLS in 32 MINS
M. Carter-Williams (PHI) 26 PTS 4 REB 10 ASTS 3 STLS in 37 MINS

Weak Performer(s):
Hate to put D.Rose down as a weak performer, especially since he hit that late trey that would have helped us win, but his 8 turnovers helped contribute to the Bulls game high 18. Can’t win that way… He must manage the game better and find other ways to contribute til’ his shot starts to fall. 13 PTS (4-14) 4 REB 6 ASTS 0  STL in 32 MINS

Main Hashtag:

Sideline Skinny:

  • Derrick again wore two strips of black Kunesia tape on his neck
  • Philly fans showed Rose some love as there were loud cheers heard as he was introduced in Wells Fargo Arena.

What’s Next?
Bulls (1-2) face Indy (3-0) on Wednesday. I expect the Bulls to be a bit more settled down for this game. They’ve had a little time to practice and watch film and won’t be heading to Indiana til’ tomorrow (11.5). If you think about it, they’ve been on a break-neck pace since the opener in Miami on ring night on Tues. Oct 29th. Then bam, two days later they are home for their own opener on Halloween for the Knicks (both games nationally televised of course). Then, before they can re-group from that Thursday game, they are in Philly on Saturday for another game (aired nationally on NBATV). Lots of hype, lot of “MVP level” expectations (especially after a successful pre-season), and a lot of people talking and second guessing Derrick’s decision to sit out a year. I’m glad for this break that they got and I feel like the team is bonding through this.

Although the Indiana game will be airing on ESPN (wow, Bulls are really big time now, their first FOUR games are out there for the world to see), I expect a more focused group. B has reminded me that offensively, the Bulls seem to be in the right spots, their shots just have to start falling. We’ll see what happens. Game is at 6PM CST and we’ll be in-game tweeting from @ChiTwnBullsBlog. Follow us for the latest. Go Bulls! #CHIvsIND.
