Bulls Stumble in NBA Opener vs. Miami

The Bulls had one of those kinds of games. Bad shooting, plus Miami’s hot shooting, plus early foul trouble and low energy on defense doomed the Bulls to a 20+ point deficit in the first half. Very disappointing outing. The second half was a little better, but by that time, Miami (and the refs) were on a roll and we couldn’t seriously threaten. Derrick’s three point shot looked flat and Dunleavy was shockingly 0-5 to start.

Game Changer:
The first half. Wheels came off for the Bulls after early foul trouble on both Butler and Deng. The dreaded scoring droughts came and Bulls didn’t score for nearly 10 minutes. Impossible to overcome. Bulls would get as close as 11 in the 4th, but it was too late. Battier and Allen also hit threes with regularity and Miami’s bench had a good shooting night. Very balanced scoring from non-core Heat members.

Peak Performer(s):
C. Boozer 31 pts. 7 REB. 2 AST. 1 ST. 1 BLK in 32 MINS.
J. Butler 20 pts. 7 REB. 3 AST. 5 ST.(yes, 5 steals) 1 BLK in 30 MINS.

Weak Performer(s):
Snell was brought in for Dunleavy, who shrank in big moments going 0-5 (he’d finish 3-9) and played 7 minutes, but went 0-3, had a turnover and two fouls… Definitely not the rookie’s fault but the time that this occurred only allowed Miami to pile on even more.

Sideline Skinny:
This was ring night for Miami… They received their rings as their third championship banner got raised. Bulls waited in the lockerroom until this was done before taking the floor. They said beforehand that this was Miami’s moment.

What’s Next?:
No rest for the Bulls. They are back from Miami and set to play the Knicks tomorrow at the United Center. I’ll be at the game and will try to share as much as I can. United Center WIFI is HORRIBLE tho so I doubt I’ll be able to in-game tweet. Check our instagram for pics though, these usually go through: ChitownBullsBlog
