Bulls get back on the winning track with a win over the Washington Wizards (4-24). Wiz were coming off only their 4th win of the season against the Orlando Magic. Washington’s coach Randy Wittman seemed to feel that the Bulls would be rusty and stated that he “was not worried about the Chicago Bulls.” Well, he should have been worried about the production Chicago would get from its backcourt – Between Rip, Marco, Kirk and Nate, they poured in 43 points, 13 assists and only 3 turnovers. Very strong guard play in this one.
Bulls have fallen to 13th in rebounding rate however so I am glad that Nazr got some burn. His offensive game was perhaps a mirage in the pre-season, but his rebounding rate is still solid and that skill set alone should earn him more minutes. Washington out-rebounded Bulls 56-49 (lots of misses and long bounces off the rim so kind of 50/50, but Okafor got 18 on his own). Nazr managed 8 rebounds (4 off and 4 def) in only 13 minutes. Find Nazy some playing time Thibs!
Bulls have a matinée in Charlotte on New Year’s Eve. This may be a trap game for Chicago. The Bobcats play hard and yes, it was against New Orleans last night but they had them down by 17 points. They like to run and Kidd-Gilchrist, Kemba Walker, Gerald Henderson and Ben Gordon can all score points in bunches. Bulls need to defend, be sharp with their transition defense and rebound the basketball. Bobcats haven’t won since Nov. 24th and I don’t want their breakthrough coming against Chicago.
I should be around to in-game tweet from @ChiTwnBullsBlog. Follow us for the latest on Bulls and NBA news. I’ll see you guys next year! Go Bulls!
