Bulls at ATL: Game Preview Jan 7 – 6:00PM CST

Early game Bulls fans! I just did my first radio interview with the Sports Chica (Maya Gavin)! I’m definitely better on paper, but I hope my enthusiasm for the Bulls came through! Thanks for having me Maya!

The pre-game is at 5:30P CST and tip-off is at 6:00P.

Everyone knows by now that the Bulls had an amazing comeback win against the Atlanta Hawks a few days back. Atlanta would then lose to a LeBron and DWade-less Miami team a couple of days later in 3OT, but would bounce back to survive a contest against the Bobcats in Charlotte in yet another overtime thriller…

Now enter the Chicago Bulls… We come in fresh off of a convincing win last night against the Orlando Magic, six game winning streak and fresher legs. Only in a compacted 66-game season would the team coming off of a back-to-back have the fresher legs. Yes, Atlanta will be playing their third game in three nights.

Smith had a big game in the OT win against the Bobcats (23 pts 13 reb), so I’ll look to see if he can establish himself against the Bulls. Teague will look to redeem himself after his lackluster play, particularly during the closing minutes of the Bulls loss where he bricked two critical free throws.

Point Guard Jeff Teague Jannero Pargo Donald Sloan Kirk Hinrich
Shooting Guard Joe Johnson Tracy McGrady Willie Green
Small Forward Marvin Williams Jerry Stackhouse Vladimir Radmanovic
Power Forward Josh Smith Ivan Johnson
Center Al Horford Zaza Pachulia Jason Collins

I’m hoping that Rip will play tonight, as the Bulls definitely need an additional playmaker on the floor. I’m worried about the offensive lulls. C.J. is still out obviously and Lucas will get the call as the backup point.

Make no mistake, Atlanta is not going to lay down and just let us beat them no matter how tired they are… Fortunately for us, based on the stellar play from Atlanta’s bench in the 3OT loss, we can now scout and prepare for some of the role players we don’t usually see… Ivan Johnson gave Atlanta interior toughness in the loss against Miami and I’d like to see Coach Drew give him some more playing time. Not that I want them to have a sparkplug off the bench, but he deserves it.

Little over an hour to tip-off guys! I’ll be in-game tweeting from @ChitwnBullsBlog so come join fun as Bulls try for SEVEN in a row!
